For most people looking to get into aviation, a Recreational Pilot Certificate (RPC) is the first step in your flight training experience.
All hours fully count towards any further flight education or license that you may be interested in pursuing.
The RPC is issued by Recreational Aviation Australia (RAAus)
TIMELINE TO TAKEOFF
Usually the first step is to take one of our Trial Introductory Flights. You will get a chance to pilot the aircraft and this will be counted as effective time in your logbook ( available to purchase from our office )
Should you choose to pursue your RPC, you will be required to apply for a membership at the RAAus website. There is also a 3 month free trial membership.
From this point on, your lessons will be based on a short briefing in our office, a preflight of the aircraft and normally an hour of practical flight training. Generally a two hour booking slot is advised when booking though Flight Schedule Pro (our booking platform)
Throughout your flight training, and when deemed appropriate by your Instructor you will have the opportunity to fly solo, this is one of the most rewarding experiences you will have during your pathway.
Throughout your training program you will be invited to partake in our various ground school and theory classes should you be interested.
Towards the end of your training you will be required to sit the relevant exams required by RAAus in order for you to obtain your RPC.
RAAus requires a minimum of 20 hours training including a minimum of 5 hours solo to obtain your certificate. This is a minimum guide, and will vary depending on the student.
Once you have attained your RPC, you will then have the ability to fly a RAAus licensed aircraft within 25 nautical miles of the departing airport. You have the option to complete your navigation training and remove the 25nm restriction.
From there, the sky is the limit. All hours you have accrued will count towards your RPL or PPL should you be interested in General Aviation.
